Dead Cells’ Corrupted Update is a guaranteed way to get cursed

Motion Twin could probably stop developing side-on pixel slicer Dead Cells and everything would be just fine. It would leave behind an "Overwhelmingly Positive" review tag on Steam and a beautiful corpse. But they’re still fiddling with it, and the 15th update has just gone live. A new biome has been added, along with a new rune, a new meta upgrade, and more.

The 10 best games like Dark Souls

Sorry, definition nerds. “Soulslike” is a word now. Disgusting, I know, but this is how genres are made. Immortal Planet trailer shows off Souls-inspired action

I'm quite excited about Immortal Planet [official site]. It's from the same Polish developer as Ronin, a turn-based stealth hack-and-slash, which I played a bit of and really enjoyed (and I wasn't alone – Marsh liked it too). The maker of Ronin, the stylish cyberninja turn-based stab-o-platformer which Marsh dug during early access, has announced his next game. Immortal Planet [official site] is also big on patience and careful striking, only this time within a real-time isometric action-RPG. Tomasz Wacławek cites the Souls games as inspirations then takes a tangent of obsessing over stamina, making it a key resource to manage and exploit.…

2D Dark Souls: Salt And Sanctuary Arrives On PC

I realise that Dark Souls comparisons are now overused to the point of near-meaninglessness but Salt and Sanctuary [official site] is, like, really Dark Souls-y. It's a hand-drawn 2D side-on platformer, sure, but does so many Souls-y things from all its parrying and rolling down to needing to go reclaim your souls salt after you die. From what I've heard, it sounds great? Following its…
