South Park: The Fractured But Whole Delayed Into 2017

Things at Ubisoft are a bit… backed up, as South Park: The Fractured But Whole [official site] has been delayed into early 2017.

What could be the cause? Does the revolutionary Nosulus Rift need added tinkering? After all, the experience would not be complete without a device to literally fart in your face. Speculation aside, Ubisoft left a brief note on the Ubiblog explaining the game would be much more polished with a few more months in development.

South Park: The Fractured But Whole Due In December

Ubisoft went a little quiet about South Park: The Fractured but Whole [official site] after announcing the RPG sequel during E3 2015 but this year’s show has brought a release date: December 6th. South Park RPG Looks Like South Park

This is an astonishing turn of events. Obsidian’s RPG based upon long-running Pixar-bothering animation showcase South Park looks quite a lot like South Park. In fact, it looks almost exactly like South Park. Details Emerge For Obsidian South Park RPG

Someone over at NeoGAF apparently got hold of the South Park edition of Game Informer and has posted up relevant details. These include:

– You play as a silent protagonist. A new kid in town who must work to fit in.
– It’s the first South Park game Stone and Parker have actively participated in and written the script for.
– Obsidian is using the Dungeon Siege III engine, there will be five classes (wizard, paladin, adventurer, rogue, and a fifth unannounced class).
– Apparently “elements of the combat system are like Paper Mario and the Mario & Luigi games”. So it’s an RPG map with turn-based encounters.

Sounds like a peculiar blend! But that could be for the best. Plenty more spoilery details through the link.

Seriously: Obsidian Making South Park RPG

THQ have announced that Obsidian are making a South Park RPG: “South Park: The Game” is an epic role-playing adventure that will allow the user to befriend Stan, Kyle, Cartman and Kenny and explore the quiet little mountain town like never before.” Parker and Stone are apparently going to be producing the script, performing the dialogue, and generally helping out, with the Californian dev team doing the dev work. Game Informer apparently have the game for their January cover, as teased here, at which point more information will be revealed.
