Stronghold 2: Steam Edition brings back multiplayer

Launched in 2005, Stronghold 2 [official site] is a castle sim that tasks you with managing a medieval fortress where you can throw fancy parties, organise jousting tournaments, bully peasants and duke it out with other lords over who gets to rule the land. Last week, it popped up on Steam in a new edition that reintroduces multiplayer while adding achievements, new maps and more. Best of all: it’s free if you’ve got the original.

Stronghold 2: Steam Edition restores multiplayer

A new edition of Stronghold 2 [official site] is coming to Steam with some fresh textures, a nicer interface and, most importantly, fully restored multiplayer – a feature that has been missing since GameSpy Arcade collapsed and died in 2013, rendering matchmaking impossible. The new edition will also be free for anyone who already owns the Stronghold Collection, say developers Firefly Studios in a video explaining all the small licks-of-paint and changes to the game.
