far-cry-5-specs

It’s been a long time since Far Cry games were how you gave your PC its fiercest work-out, but hell, old habits. Ubi have just put out system requirements for March’s Montana-set Far Cry 5 and they’re pretty reasonable, in the main.

Basically, if you have at least a GTX 670 or R9 270 you’re getting in the door, though if you want to crank it all the way to 4K and 60FPS and don’t already have the high-end cards to do it, it’s second mortgage time.

Destiny 2 PC system requirements finalised

As Bungie wind up to launch Destiny 2 [official site] for PC on October 24th, they have finalised the system requirements. These are basically the same as the open beta version demanded, though now Bungie go into helpful extra detail on alternatives. Will you be able to play with your chums or is it your destiny to miss out? Destiny, yeah? Wordplay. Look, I’m told people like puns. No, I agree that puns are awful. Yes, I realise the irony of saying that while working for RPS. No, I don’t mean irony in an Alanis Morissette way. All I really want is for you to read the system requirements and be happy. God, no, that wasn’t meant to be an Alanis Morissette joke. You oughta know. Read the rest of this entry »

Assassin’s Creed Origins system requirements leap out

Seeing as Assassin’s Creed took a year out between Syndicate and Assassin’s Creed Origins [official site], will your PC need to hurdle an extra year’s tech to play this new one? Nope! Ubisoft have confirmed the system requirements, and they’re the same as Syndicate demanded. Ubi also gab about PC technobits including making a proper go of keyboard and mouse controls, a built-in benchmarking tool, and options for dynamic resolution scaling to keep framerates stable (or not, if you don’t want it). Total War: Warhammer 2 system requirements confirmed

With Total War: Warhammer 2 [official site] now only four weeks away, launching on September 28th, developers The Creative Assembly have settled and announced the fantasy wargame’s PC system requirements. They are, unsurprisingly, about the same as the first Twarham’s requirements but very slightly raised so folks with sluggish PCs will want to check ’em out. And for folks with silicon-snorting framecrushers, beefy boxes bulging with ribs and oozing sauce, or chip-crunching cybermaws crammed with Datadeglovers™, they’ve detailed the sort of rig you’ll need to slam 60fps. Spec me up: Prey PC system requirements confirmed

If you’ve been cooing and making kissy faces through the window at the upcoming new Prey [official site], Arkane’s sci-fi remix of Dishonored, you might have heard a demo is out today. It’s not for us. No, the demo with the first hour-or-so of the game is only for consoles. Given how many big games launch with performance problems, it’s a shame we won’t get to have a crack on our own PCs. Publishers Bethesda have at least confirmed system requirements, which give… a vague indication of how it might potentially run? Check your spec: Read the rest of this entry »

Mass Effect: Andromeda system requirements confirmed

Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare System Requirements

With the launch of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare [official site] just over a week away, Activision are busy ticking off items on their usual launch checklist.

  • Make live-action trailer starring celebs because reasons ☑
  • Announce PC system requirements ☑
  • Research oddball comparisons for post-launch sales boasts

I’m excited to see what they come up with this year on that last note. Infinite Warfare Twitch livestream minutes watched versus the Superbowl? Dollar sales figures versus the combined value of the shoes of everyone who saw Suicide Squad? We’ll have to wait and see! But for those first two, read on. Read the rest of this entry »

Erected: Civilization VI System Requirements Finalised

The Iain Banks novel Complicity dedicates a fair few words to the system requirements of Despot, a fictional game which is basically Civilization (Banks had a bit of a Civ problem). If even Iain Banks didn’t shy away from such responsibility, I hardly can.

With Civilization VI [official site] now less than a month away from launch, the system requirements are now finalised. As you’d expect, they’re not too strict, running on most PCs from the past four years or so.

Thief System Specs Sneak Out, Don’t Induce Fear

Remember when the announcement of system requirements was this gulp-inducing deal? Would your PC be up to it? Was it going to become time to upgrade in order to play the game you were most interested in? With a new Crysis no longer being a priority, and not a single big-budget game-changer appearing in 2013, it feels almost anachronistic to even make system specs an announcement these days. And that’s no less true today, with the specs released for Thief. Unless your PC is built out of twigs, there’s a good change they’re not going to bother you.
