Wage spacewar in Interplanetary: Enhanced Edition

interplanetary enhanced

Remember Interplanetary? You know, the 2015 strategy game about building a base and blowing up other planets. Its hook was that gravity played a huge part: to land your shots you had to take into account the gravitational pull of other planets in the area, which was pretty novel. Well, now there’s an Enhanced Edition [official site] that squishes bugs, revamps the visuals and delivers a cargo hold of gameplay tweaks. It’s free for people who own the original.

Gravitational Pull-Em-Up: Interplanetary Launches May 12

The last time we wrote about Interplanetary [official site] was two years ago when it first hit Steam Greenlight. On it’s surface it’s basically a game about hurling stuff into space, but as Graham said at the time it’s more DEFCON by way of Universe Sandbox.

And it’s come a hell of long way since 2013. The devs at TJR Games are just now introducing save games and match customization for Interplanetary’s official launch on Tuesday, May 12th. You can check out the team’s new trailer for a run-down on what you can expect for next week’s release.

It’s a strategy game in which you use the gravitational pull of planets in order to slingshot projectiles across the solar system, so that they smash against the fragile planets and moons of your opponent. It looks a little like DEFCON by way of Universe Sandbox. Since I wrote about it last month, the game has found its way on to Steam Greenlight, and there’s a new trailer below.

Another Dimension: Interplanetary Trailer Slingshots Strategy

Coming from Uranus to check my style

I was lamenting with friends, as we gathered for whiskey and cigars, that there was no space combat game that took into account gravitational pull. I wanted the Kerbal Space Program equivalent of space combat, a game that involved slingshoting projectiles around solar bodies and towards their intended target.

So it is and so it was and so here is the trailer for Interplanetary, a strategy game where you do just that.
