Platinum’s Ninja Turtles game vanishes from sale

Given that Platinum make some of the finest action games going and that only some of them make it to PC, one of them (temporarily?) vanishing from sale on PC should get me all het up. But eh, it’s only Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan [official site] that has vanished from stores, and that’s a bit bum – certainly no Metal Gear Rising. Besides, this happens all the time with licensed games published by Activision, and they often return just as unexpectedly as they vanished.

Let’s barrel on through this so we can gab about Platinum’s Nier: Automata, which is coming to PC and looks totally wizzo. Read the rest of this entry »

Platinum’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Game Released

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan [official site], the latest from Bayonetta makers Platinum Games, is now out. I mention this not because I suffer from a crippling nostalgia which means I can only enjoy things from my youth, before I discovered anchovies are actually an acceptable pizza topping, but because Platinum can do great things even with licensed games. Platinum’s Ninja Turtles Game Cowabungaing Into May

I was on holiday last week, so the klaxon I’ve set up alerting me to PlatinumGames news was only heard by my neighbours. In their excitement to hear more about Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan [official site], they kicked in our front door and smashed the siren into a thousand tiny pieces. Bless ’em! Publishers Activision had previously said that Bayonetta and Metal Gear Rising devs Platinum would launch their take on the totally tubular turtles this summer, but a new trailer last week pinned it down to an earlier release date: May 24th.

Platinum’s Ninja Turtles Looks Like A Platinum Game

Word reached my ear last year that Bayonetta and Metal Gear Rising devs PlatinumGames were making a game based on ’80s icons the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and, like April O’Neil, I told the world that turtles are real and they’re out there they live in the New York sewers you have to believe me. While April would’ve dirtied her jumpsuit rummaging in filth beneath Activision’s offices to find the truth, I stayed home and watched Netflix, knowing the publishers would soon announce it anyway. And so they have: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan [official site] is coming this summer. Watch this trailer:

Cowabunga! Seems Platinum Have A Ninja Turtles Game

PlatinumGames pleased our resident Transforman Alec with Transformers: Devastation, satisfying his twin passions of virtual murder and gushing over children’s toys from the 1980s. Now it seems the studio behind Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance and Bayonetta may be tackling another ’80s merchandising powerhouse next, going totally tubuluar with those radical Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Or so The Man says.
