Wield the Infinity Gauntlet’s power in Fortnite’s Avengers crossover event

As if Fortnite Battle Royale smashing a comet into the map and wiping out an area wasn’t fancy enough, it turns out that comet contained the Infinity Gauntlet from those there Marvel movies. A new solo event mode lets one player grab the Gauntlet and be transformed into Thanos himself (the chinny smurf from Avengers: Infinity War), wielding superpowers as other players try to take ’em down and have their go with the glove. It adds an interesting element of uneasy and fleeting alliances, as Thanos is too tough for any one player to kill alone but everyone ultimately wants the win themselves. Square Enix and Marvel, avenging in a tree

Yesterday, Square Enix announced that they’d be announcing something today, as that’s how marketing works now. Yesterday, Marvel also announced that they’d be announcing something today, but no-one knew if they meant a film, a comic, a TV series or that Ike Perlmutter had ordered that Captain America was henceforth to be depicted as an outspoken climate change denier.

Different companies announce different stuff on the same day all the time, but there was something even more needlessly vague than usual about these two, and so a few souls put two and two together and speculated that it could be same announcement – Square Enix publishing a Marvel game. LEGO Duo: Avengers & Jurassic World Announced

No, I know. This is from 2013's LEGO Marvel Super Heroes.

The simultaneous announcement of two new LEGO games makes me suddenly pained that they don’t let you mix-and-match parts from different games in the way one can with real LEGO [possibly the only capitalised brand name I’ll respect -ed.]. Obviously I’ll want to take the Black Widow from LEGO Marvel’s Avengers over into LEGO Jurassic World to zap raptors with her Widow’s Sting, and yes I absolutely would like to whack Loki with an ankylosaurus’s clubbed tail. Alas, the two games are separate for, one imagines, innumerable legal and technical reasons.

To celebrate this announcement, loads of LEGO games are on sale on Steam too.
