Zelda games shall be forever gripped close to Nintendo's chest, but remakes, demakes and homages frequently turn up on the shores of PC gaming. Zelda VR aims to re-build The Legend of Zelda - yeah, the original, top-down, NES Zelda - for virtual reality headsets. Legend of Zelda Minecraft! GameInformer gameinforms us that Minecraft modders Gary520 and Spirale have been working on a Zelda mod that is as close to a proper game as anything yet made in Notch’s blocky world. The trailer after the jump promises familiar locations, eight dungeons, over 10 hours of play and 20 weapons. There’s even a shield for batting away baddies.
Have a dash of Nintendo in your PC tea, with Michael Johnston's fan-made, browser-based reimagining of the second NES Legend of Zelda game as an FPS of sorts. Large, flat open lands, caves and floaty heart icons, all from the player-perspective rather than a bird's eye view. Dedicated/clever/fiddly/oddly grindy, but quite lovely in its strange past-meets-present genre-bending.
