Wipe those tears away: Far Cry 5 released

After years of gallivanting around the world, Far Cry today settles down for a quiet life in small-town America. Far Cry 5 launched in the wee hours, the latest in Ubisoft’s open-world sandbox shooter. This time, the mince plot is about saving Hope County in Montana from a naughty cult by wandering, driving, flying, swinging, and wingsuiting around while shooting faces and catching fish. We have a review coming in a bit but, for now, here’s word that it’s out and the launch trailer. Read the rest of this entry »

Assassin’s Creed Origins system requirements leap out

Seeing as Assassin’s Creed took a year out between Syndicate and Assassin’s Creed Origins [official site], will your PC need to hurdle an extra year’s tech to play this new one? Nope! Ubisoft have confirmed the system requirements, and they’re the same as Syndicate demanded. Ubi also gab about PC technobits including making a proper go of keyboard and mouse controls, a built-in benchmarking tool, and options for dynamic resolution scaling to keep framerates stable (or not, if you don’t want it). Snow joke: Steep now preloading for open beta weekend

If you, like me, fancy hitting the slopes this weekend in the free open beta test for Ubisoft’s open-world xXtremewintersportsXx ’em up Steep [official site], fire up Uplay today. The beta doesn’t begin until Friday but you can now preload the game, which is handy as it’s a 19GB download. If that sounds big to you, hey, consider how big the Alps are. You could hardly take them home with you on the bus, could you? Read the rest of this entry »

Steep Open Beta Weekend Hits The Piste In November

Given that the PC version of Watch Dogs 2 is delayed, mid-November will be sorely lacking in Xtreme Livin’ It To The MaxX Kickin’ It Hangin’ Loose Dudes To The Max from Ubisoft. But wait, what’s that rumbling sound? Glory be! It’s an open beta weekend for Ubi’s xtreme wintersports ’em up Steep [official site], set to run November 18th to 21st. If you play the beta while listening to music from 2014 and shouting old Internet memes, Steep might just give you enough xtreme ‘tude to tide you over. Read the rest of this entry »

Splatto: Trials Of The Blood Dragon’s Demo Will Reward Good Play With Full Game

Combining the stunt riding of Trials with the shoot-o-wackiness of Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon in Trials of the Blood Dragon [official site] did not go too well, our John will tell you. But do you believe everything John tells you? He told me that dog eggs are delicious, that ice cream vans jingle to warn they’re out of ice cream, and that a new food is why my hamster changed colour. So to hell with John! If he’s not your real dad either, you might want to try the demo coming this month – and playing it can earn you the full game if you’re good enough.

Trials Of The Blood Dragon Announced, Then Released

Obviously the combination of physics-driven motorbike stunter Trials and the neon world of FPS spoof Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon would result in something ludicrous but gosh, Trials of the Blood Dragon still surprised me. Ubisoft officially announced the garish stunt game during their E3 press shindig today, a while after word of it leaked, and… then they launched it. It’s out now. You can buy it, download it, and start biking and gunning (yes, it has guns) through neon hellworlds right now. Look at this:

Adam & Eve It: Assassin’s Creed Syndicate PC Date

Mate, am I supposed to be happy to hear from you? Evie's having none of that.

Cor blimey luv a duck and stone the crows [be kind then cruel to birds -ed.], you won’t Adam and Eve [believe -ed.] what Ubisoft have done to the PC version of Assassin’s Creed Syndicate [official site]. I’m only joshing: you will absolutely believe that Ubisoft have confirmed the PC version is coming a month after the console release. It’s their flipping copper hand and eye [modus operandi -ed.], innit?

Having been a bit vague about the launch before, Ubi have now pegged down a Windows release date of November 19th – consoles are October 23rd.
