Sheltered’s Danger Update Adds Fire, Factions, Filchers

If you’ve found Sheltered [official site] challenging up to now, you’ll likely find it even tougher thanks to the new ‘Danger Update‘ which brings the nuclear post-apocalypse, well, more danger. Now, nomads can break into your vault, ahem, underground bunker; unscrupulous factions storm the overground; house fires can destroy your equipment and resources; and bears and wolves are back, to name but some of the fresh perils. Bloody hell. The upshot of the update? Traps and horses.

Gimme: Team 17 To Publish Sheltered

Sheltered is a game of post-nuke survival in which the player is at the head of a family living in an underground bunker. Our Alec took notice when it reached Kickstarter a couple of weeks ago and he wasn’t alone. With four days left on the clock, the project has reached passed its £15,000 goal and is on the verge of raising £20,000 in bottle caps and other assorted currency. It wasn’t only pledgers who took note of the pixel art survival sim, companies were also watching, notably Team 17 who have snapped up publishing rights.

The Fallout Doctrine: Sheltered

It’s easy to forget what reality is and how to breathe and why basic human values matter during E3 week. It’s also easy to forget that there are other things going on in gaming’s humongous land. Inventive projects on Kickstarter, for instance. A post-apocalyptic survival game that’s genuinely about survival, rather than shooting giant mutant scorpions or speaking like a cowboy, for example. One where you’re trying to keep your family alive while stuck in a fallout shelter, for example. Sheltered, for example.
