University Of California Announces Esports Scholarships

Well this is interesting – the University of California, Irvine is launching a dedicated esports initiative. What that means is they’re working with Riot Games to build an arena with a staging area and webcasting studio. The university add that “as many as 10 academic scholarships will be offered to students on the team”.

First-Person Game Teaches Java As Magic!

CodeSpells is a first-person game created to teach Java programming. Yeah – that just happened. A project by computer scientists at the University Of California, the game is designed to teach school students the programming language, as a solution for the difficulties of providing computer science education to younger teenagers.
