Vane Trailer Wanders The Lone And Unlevel Sands

In the heat of the action and in the settled dust

Exploring a mysterious desert sounds delightful, especially when it’s as attractive as Vane‘s. The vague information we know about the game (in short: single-player; open world; exploration; ruins galore; giant storms; a magical child; dark forces; mystery; mystery; mystery) and this here new trailer would be enough to have me jolly keen to play it. But also, its makers include two folks who worked on The Last Guardian, that achingly lovely but seemingly lost PlayStation exclusive from Shadow of the Colossus chaps Team Ico. They probably picked up a thing or two about spooky explore-o-tragedies.

Ex-Last Guardian Devs Making Ico-Esque PC Game

I would say PlayStation’s loss is our gain, but I really feel for the poor consolefolk on this one. They’ve waited years upon years for Ico/Shadow of the Colossus‘ developer Team Ico’s gigantic monster kitty adventure The Last Guardian, but they’ve gotten nary a tantalizing scrap for their troubles. It’s the console equivalent of Half-Life 3.

Now Vane is being made by a bunch of former Last Guardian devs who, it should be stressed, are no longer making The Last Guardian. Their new game does look absolutely stunning, though.
