This War Of Mine Update 1.4 Improves Scenario Editor

This War Of Mine [official site] is a sobering experience. Like most of us, I’ve never been involved in an actual war, thus any knowledge I have regarding the atrocities of conflict has been accrued from modern media. This War Of Mine may be a fictional, video game take on these realities, but its Sims’-esque slant on war zone resource management delivers something which, at the very least, feels real from a position of relative ignorance.

Update 1.4, named “New Beginning”, adds Steam Workshop support, meaning players can now share the scenarios they invent in the game’s editor suite.

We’re Skaven, We’re Skaven!

Classic period Alec design here.

Remember the above campaign we ran in the golden age of Rock Paper Shotgun? Well, in the most recent letter from the Mythic Producer Carrie Gouskos she revealed the coming of player controlled Skaven. Not as a faction, but in part of a new Skaven-themed Realm-versus-realm zone, where both Destruction and Order players get a chance to play THE MOST SPLENDID OF WARHAMMER RACES. This makes me suspect something akin to Lord of the Rings Monster-play may be in the offing. The rat-related details are found in full below…

Consolvania’s Installation Problem Fixed!

Clearly the biggest news of the day is the fact Consolevania have managed to get their installation of WAR working after it not doing so last time. Which involved Project Lead Paul Barnett calling up and having a yabber at them, which I suspect is a technical support offer which won’t be extended to the rest of WAR’s playerbase. The full exchange is immortalised in the video beneath the cut, plus lingering footage of a bond girl.

Consolevania Goes To WAR in Series 4

'I'll even forgive them for that Nu-skool journalist sketch. Well, mostly forgive.

Another one of our favourite things has sort of come back into life. We’ve only mentioned consolevania in passing before, but the web-TV show (which sprouted TV spin-off Videogaiden) has returned for a series 4. Except rather than their traditional shows, they’re doing a rolling-feature model, with youtube videos added as and when they’re finished. Thankfully, one of the first three is PC-game related, thus justifying a linkage. Rab is embedding himself in Warhammer Online to return in the world’s most long-form review. That he seems to be even more of geek than yours truly bodes well, but… well, surely nothing can go wrong?

Warhammer Online, On The Road, Rocking Out

In a move that’s a little less Led Zeppelin and inching into Spinal Tap territory, Mythic have done a punky-metal song about Warhammer and put together a video for it featuring footage from the last two years on the road. And it looks like this…

Brief cameos of RPSers Matt Kumar (00:34) and myself (00:36). I’m having some manner of fit.
