Play Sea Of Thieves for free with the Xbox Game Pass

sea of thieves free

Sea Of Thieves hit the high seas last night, which is probably why I’m a little bit sleepy this morning. Since reviews aren’t up yet, you might be appropriately hesitant about jumping into the water. Even pirates do their due diligence. But waiting is also incredibly boring, so it’s a good thing that you can potentially play the game for absolutely nothing with the Xbox Game Pass.

State of Decay 2 shambles onto Windows 10 in May

state-of-decay-2-a

Base-building zombie survival sandbox State of Decay 2 will launch on May 22nd, publishers Microsoft have announced. The sequel to 2013’s pretty fun zomb ’em up brings one of the features I’d most wanted: cooperative multiplayer. It is only on Windows 10 and only on Microsoft’s own Store, as far as we know, cos Microsoft have some funny ideas about how to launch a PC game in 2018.

But enough words, come watch this new video showing 25 minutes of cooperative zompocalypse action: Read the rest of this entry »

Oh, Whoops! Crackdown 3 Is Coming To Windows 10

Oh! Here’s some late news: Crackdown 3 [official site] is also coming to Windows 10. I know, I know This was announced a month ago. Whoops. But you can grump that I’m late or be glad that it’s coming.

Crackdown, for folks who didn’t see the earlier games on Xbox 360, is about a super-powered futurecop dispensing violent futurejustice in a sandbox open-world futurecity. What’s fancy and new with 3, beyond its first appearance on PC, is destructible futurebuildings. Kerfutureblammo!

Comcept & Armature’s ReCore Coming In September

Keiji Inafune and his new studio Comcept drew squillions of dollars in crowdfunding for megamanner Mighty No. 9 but ooh I’m digging the look of their other game way more. ReCore [official site], a collaboration between Comcept and Armature Studio, is an action-adventure doodad about a lone human in an alien desert who befriends robot animals and duffs up other robots. E3 has brought a release date – September 13th – along with a trailer showing a bit of roboduffing:

Bayonetta Devs Platinum Bringing Scalebound To PC

Look, I admit it: I’ve been over-excited about games like games like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles because I’m so desperate to have PlatinumGames on PC. They are one of the very finest developers around, but most of their best work is on their own creations: Bayonetta, Vanquish, and the like. So huzzah! Scalebound [official site], an actual Proper Platinum Game, is coming to Windows 10 as well as Xbone.

It’s a game about a young lad and his dragon pal duffing up nasties, including the honking great crab seen in this E3 gameplay video:

The Creative Assembly’s Halo Wars 2 Due In Feb 2017

Total War developers The Creative Assembly have stuck their thumb into Microsoft’s gamepie and pulled out a technoplum, by which I of course mean that they’re making Halo Wars 2 [official site] for Windows 10. Halo Wars is a real-time strategy spin-off from the Xbox’s flagship FPS, with the first one released on Xbox 360 in 2009. Well, now this sequel has a release date: February 21st, 2017. That’s a bit later than autumn 2016 date mentioned before. Still, it’ll cheer you up, I can show you moving pictures:

Forza Horizon 3 Announced, Coming To Windows 10

Coo ‘eck, will Microsoft be bringing everything to Windows 10 now? After confirming Gears of War 4 for PC, they announced Forza Horizon 3 [official site] during their E3 press event and yep, it’s also coming to Windows 10 as well as Xbone. Forza Horizon is a spin-off from the Xbox racing series, an open-world zoomer about a wacky car festival. Which means that drivers (and Drivatars!) get to zoom around rainforests, along beaches, and over dunes in a colourful little slice of Australia. It’s due in September.

Gears Of War 4 Coming To Windows 10

Microsoft are certainly starting to bring their big guns from Xbox One to PC – big guns with chainsaws on ’em and everything. Gears of War 4 [official site] will launch for Windows 10 and Xbone in October, and both versions are tied together. It’ll be an ‘Xbox Play Anywhere’ game, which means that folks who buy it digitally get it on both platforms, with progress and achievements shared between them. Its co-op campaign and other co-op modes will support cross-platform multiplayer too.
