Drive!Drive!Drive! races out soon, thrice, upside-down

I’ve been so distracted by its GIFs of cybercars zooming through corkscrews and smashing through opponents that I missed the fact that Drive!Drive!Drive! [official site] is almost out. It is. December 13th is when Different Cloth’s weird racing game arrives, and to be honest I’m still not entirely sure how its whole deal of ‘racing across multiple tracks at the same time’ works. That’s fine. Did I mention the cybercars racing through dinosaur mouths and the track editor and the soundtrack by Zombi? I was somewhat distracted by those too. Read the rest of this entry »

The Games That Got Away In 2015

We’ve been drawing up our end of year list here at RPS and in trawling through 2015’s releases, I found a fair few that I hadn’t played and feel like I really should have done. Over the last couple of weeks, I’ve been catching up. Here are the games I missed. Until now.

London Calling: Ubi’s Survival Horror FPS Zombi Out

London calling to the zombies of death.

Ubisoft’s survival horror FPS ZombiU was contained as a Wii U exclusive for a surprising three years, but today it escaped Nintendo’s console to gnaw on skulls round our way too. Now named Zombi [official site], it’s set in London during a zombie apocalypse. I haven’t seen ZombiU in a while, but I remember it as least being a better representation of London than most games manage – they really captured the shambling zombies sicking up guts round Brick Lane.

See U Soon: Ubi’s Survival Horror FPS Zombi Comes To PC

One novel exclusive from Ubisoft for the Wii U launch in 2012 was ZombiU, a survival horror FPS set in a zombie-infested London. It was designed a fair bit around the the WiiU tablet controller doodad, but it seemed like this wouldn’t be enough to keep it off other platforms. For a long time, it was. But, late enough that I’m actually surprised by news I had once anticipated, Ubisoft have now announced that ZombiU is coming to Windows. Or Zombi [official site], as it’s now known. Soon, too: August 18th.

Drive!Drive!Drive! Across Several Tracks At Once

Drive!Drive!Drive! [official site] is “a driving game about racing multiple tracks at the same time,” I am told. I’m into the idea, but don’t know how that multiple tracks thing works. I’ve watched the pretty announcement trailer several times, but it only offers small hints. I even asked developers Different Cloth (some of the lot behind papercraft shark game Derrick the Deathfin), but founder Gordon Midwood only whispered something about switching then added “The starlings fly east” and thrice hooted like an owl. How very mysterious. Watch the trailer and see what you make of it.
