Reverse Shmup Retro/Grade Moonwalking Onto PC

By Nathan Grayson on March 7th, 2013 at 5:00 pm.

Here's the easy version: it's out on March 20th. Steam and stuff. There you go.

Retro/Grade is a shoot-’em-up in reverse. It can also be played with guitar controllers. In short, videogames. The slightly longer version? Appearances can be deceiving, and the PlayStation transplant derives its DNA just as much from guitar heroes as it does star captains and their worlds of tomorrow. It’s an eccentric mix, to be sure, but word on the street is that it comes together quite beautifully. By why trust the street? It knows nothing of outer space or its customs. Also, it’s covered in gum and germs and stuff. After the break, you’ll find a trailer that reveals all.

“Retro/Grade is a rhythm game with a unique twist – time is flowing backwards! While it looks like a shoot ‘em up in reverse, you must un-fire attacks to the beat of the music while avoiding enemy fire in order to save the space/time continuum. Otherwise, a temporal anomaly will rip the universe a new time-hole.”

At first I thought it was a Battlefleet Gothic game..

Dangit, me too! At a first glance that screenshot looked so BFG

Oh well. A man can still hope. They’ve done the main WH and 40k, blood bowl, doing space hulk, possibly necromunda.. I mean, sooner or later they will get to the best one

    Too backward; didn’t read.

      It says:

.It’s kind of incredible .The game actually begins at its own credit sequence .And yes ,it’s entirely )and perhaps optimally( compatible with guitar controllers ,so you should probably start pakcing for any closet spelunking mission that might involve now .Alternatively ,if garage sales were involved ,remember that theft is wrong

Its original PC version is superior. The console ports really left something to be desired.

Guitar hero with bad techno. Pass.

And here I was hoping that a backwards shmup would task you with piloting a gigantic screen-filling behemoth, trying to time your clumsy-yet-destructive attacks perfectly to box in and destroy a tiny zippy weaker craft before they run you out of healthbar.

edit: This comment is double-ninja’ed and ALSO failed to be in the proper location. It is the worst comment ever.

    That’d be Boss Rush! ;)

(I’ve never played it, I don’t know if it’s good, but I remember reading about it a while ago on indiegames.com)

Thoroughly enjoyed playing this at PAX with a guitar controller!

Hasn’t this come out like 3 times now?
