Welcome to October, via more zombie drama for Friday morning. The Sacrifice, the latest DLC for both Left 4 Dead and its sequel, is arriving on PC on 5th October. Rather looking forward to this one, I have to say.

01/10/2010 at 09:28 Left 4 Dead says:
I’m playing this on Left 4 Dead 1 & 2 right when it comes out.
01/10/2010 at 10:18 battles_atlas says:
One man co-op on two different platforms at once? I’m confused
01/10/2010 at 09:29 Angryinternetman says:
That trailer looks really nice!
01/10/2010 at 09:36 Huggster says:
Now THAT is a well directed trailer, unlike the previous F3AR one.
01/10/2010 at 09:43 Tei says:
If thats how things ends, probably is a better idea to read it first on the comic, then watch this video.
01/10/2010 at 09:59 warth0g says:
Erm best trailer ever? Instills much optimism for the Valve made HL2 film…
01/10/2010 at 10:08 TooNu says:
And that’s how awesome is defined.
01/10/2010 at 10:11 Baka says:
[Clay Davis] Shieet [/Clay Davis]
Valve directing just never ceases to amaze me.
01/10/2010 at 15:29 Bozzley says:
Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeit!
(reply to Baka in case the reply thing doesn’t work again damnit :D)
01/10/2010 at 18:07 Arthur Barnhouse says:
Today, on jokes John Walker doesn’t get!
01/10/2010 at 10:15 Rinox says:
Goosebumps! Can’t wait to get the ole’ autoshotty out with my friends again.
And then, hopefully, a midnight riders campaign/game? I can dream!
01/10/2010 at 10:15 Spatula says:
Wow. Understated yet powerfuly [/film-snob]
Valve. Make a feature-length film. Pretty please.
01/10/2010 at 10:27 Sinomatic says:
I take back what I said on the TF2 post, I’ll happily be called a rabid Valve fangirl after watching this.
How on earth am I going to get any revision done for my exam on the 12th? HOW?!
01/10/2010 at 11:03 KillahMate says:
Best ever? Sorry, it’s really good, but it’s not even Valve’s best ever. that would be this little Clutch number. (Yes, I know EA actually made it, but still.)
My musical preferences may be influencing me though.
01/10/2010 at 11:21 The Dark One says:
That’s just a shortened version of the game’s into cinematic, cut to a catchy chorus.
01/10/2010 at 11:22 The Dark One says:
*intro cinematic.
01/10/2010 at 11:33 KillahMate says:
I know. I like the catchy chorus.
01/10/2010 at 18:47 Davie says:
Agreed. Clutch is brilliant.
01/10/2010 at 11:41 jeremypeel says:
So good I watched it twice.
I love the offhand significance of Zoey tossing Louis that katana.
And Francis’ stoicism.
And Valve.
01/10/2010 at 13:14 Flippy says:
I hope tis means we can play 8 player coop, L4D1 players as the L4D1 cast, and L4D2 players as L4D2 cast. I wish i wish….
01/10/2010 at 13:36 DXN says:
*shivers*
01/10/2010 at 13:40 SuperNashwan says:
Excellent trailer, but just goes to show how much more character the L4D1 survivors have over the L4D2 cast.
01/10/2010 at 19:27 DrGonzo says:
I really don’t agree with that. I like Francis and Zoey from the first game, I like Ellis and Nick from the second.
01/10/2010 at 13:48 Ben Teller says:
Nice Trailer. Check out this HD Trailer.
01/10/2010 at 13:53 Jimmy Jazz says:
Hooo, I used to play Bill all the time. I was like “Nooooo Bill!” when I saw his body by the generator.
I’m totally playing Bill again in this DLC.
01/10/2010 at 13:56 GHudston says:
All the new features of L4D2 with the characters and atmosphere of the first game? Hell, it’s about time!
Absolutely fantastic trailer. I missed these guys!
01/10/2010 at 15:13 skinlo says:
I can’t wait for this, No Mercy is coming out as well, the best (imo) campaign from L4D1, except with all the anti closet camping infected of the second game :D
01/10/2010 at 19:30 Dominic White says:
As they’ve clearly got the framework worked out, I’d love to see them port the other L4D1 levels to the sequel. Yeah, it’d cause the first game to be phased out eventually, but it would also mean that L4D2 would become an enormous supergame on-par with TF2.
01/10/2010 at 15:51 Deston says:
Yeah, this is a seriously sleek trailer. Cannot wait for next week, I may need to “arrange” a day off.
01/10/2010 at 16:28 Logan_Jennings says:
anyone else notice Francis holding the Spaz-12 like a bat in that trailer?
Bill, I Salute you. Your sacrifice will never be in vein.
01/10/2010 at 16:37 Neosubu says:
That was awesome.
01/10/2010 at 16:39 sbs says:
Really, really fantastic.
01/10/2010 at 17:11 SunabouzuX says:
I can never decide who is more awesome: Bill or Ellis?
I think that video decided it for me.
01/10/2010 at 17:18 Ben says:
A great trailer, but as somebody already said, it just highlights the sad fact that the original cast are far superior characters
Captcha: 7 Ham, somebody’s hungry.
01/10/2010 at 17:50 dethtoll says:
I’m so happy I was able to get a new PC before this came out. If I missed out, I think I’d cry.
01/10/2010 at 18:18 Hyper says:
Agreed.
If any of the characters should have been fed to the tanks it should have been ……. Well, I was going to say Rochelle, but in retrospect, any of the L4D2 characters can kick the bucket as far as I’m concerned. They’re all bland and two dimensional.
Too bad they can’t just wipe them out and start fresh with the original cast, especially now that they’ve killed one off.
Anyway, it’s just a game and all but it would be nice if Valve didn’t blow it out their ass on this one as much as they did.
01/10/2010 at 19:28 DrGonzo says:
Bill is the most generic 2 dimensional character in the whole series I think. Ellis is one of the best character’s in the series, if only because he IS Jason Stackhouse.
01/10/2010 at 18:54 Mr Greggles says:
Ah, he was old and would have died soon anyway
01/10/2010 at 19:52 Rodafowa says:
That line from Shining Force III was a running gag among my friends for years. You’ve just put a big smile on my face.
01/10/2010 at 20:21 Journalist with a scoop says:
I am a journalist with a scoop, drgonzo is dumb.
Bill is an interesting character for his father role regarding the other characters and the difficult decision he makes, like sacrificing the dudes in the military base or himself to save the other surivors.
Ellis is just LOL SO DUMB AND RANDOM.
01/10/2010 at 21:45 Araxiel says:
I think you need more than one small molotov for THREE MOTHERFUGGING TANKS!
Valve’s trailer director deserves a medal. All their videos are all so frigging awesome.
01/10/2010 at 22:22 FunkyBadger says:
Bill is clearly channelling the power of SAXTON HALE.
“Tanks? I’m coming for you, you sons of bitches.”
01/10/2010 at 22:50 Traytr says:
BIIIIIIIIIILLLLLLL!!!!!!!!! Why did you do it man?!? i cried when i watched him walk up to throw the molotov. YOU WILL BE AVENGED MY FRIEND!!!!!!!!! *Loads minigun and spins it up*
01/10/2010 at 23:32 Navagon says:
Pretty damn slick!
It’s just a shame that, with the monetizing of TF2, I probably won’t want to see any further Valve updates to these games.
02/10/2010 at 05:16 The Dark One says:
What does this even mean? Robin Walker has said that they have twelve or thirteen people who work on TF2 at any given moment. Development on other games doesn’t grind to a halt every time Gabe decides they need to release more hats.
02/10/2010 at 06:41 0.o!mirrom says:
i LOVE Bill’s BOOTS!! <3
02/10/2010 at 10:12 natcaasi says:
Did i see 3 tanks or was my vision blurred …
02/10/2010 at 15:34 StealthyWalrus says:
Bill is such badass XD
03/10/2010 at 08:30 durrrrr says:
how is one molotov for three tanks a surprise?
tanks are made of fucking paper and are more useless than a jockey unless your vs infected team is coordinated.
valve need to look to the modders for advice on improving infected:
make tanks faster and stronger when on fire
make hunters like they were in l4d where a 25 pounce DIDN’T just clip through survivors ~100% of the time
make smoker tongue range back to normal
make boomer puke range back to normal
etc etc.
and most importantly FIX THE SHITTY BROKEN CONSOLE STYLE LOBBIES THAT BREAK ALL THE TIME
oh and ban the french and spanish forever because they either suck or take it waaayyy too seriously and still suck. no middle ground with those faggots.
ugh
03/10/2010 at 18:43 EvaUnit02 says:
Honestly they’d be better off banning you for being a highly immature homophobic racist, with imaginary entitlement rights.
Grow up already, it’s just a CGI cutscene which isn’t worth taking seriously and stop generalising entire nations of people based on meeting a small handful of them that you’ve met online.
05/10/2010 at 05:12 Becky. says:
where do you download it from?
05/10/2010 at 20:32 Michael says:
It’s not automatically downloading the DLC on Steam for me (I have L4D2 for the PC).
I can’t find a place to download this online.
So…?
