I really need to play Psychonauts again. There were a couple scenes in there that I don’t remember.
I have it on GOG, but when I started playing again the last time I got bored in the first level and just wanted to skip forward a couple scenes.

Sometimes, a science fiction film is really good. And sometimes the above poster is an idiot.
14/09/2010 at 16:00 DMcCool says:
Sometimes, people state facts. And sometimes, people state opinions.
I’m with Freud, Inception was frightfully dull – it set up a glorious premise and then decided all it wanted to do with that was recreate a Bond movie. But this time the guards are imaginary! Right, okay.
The visuals were glorious though, all those oranges and browns, felt like a movie set in a Jaffa Cake (in a good way).
16/09/2010 at 04:34 GHudston says:
I won’t debate with you about your opinion vs. my opinion on a film but, compared to most of the tripe that comes out in the cinema these days, Inception deserves a little better than being called “Frightfully Dull”. It may not have been as clever as it believed itself to be and it may not have been to your tastes, but it was anything but dull.
But yes, it was very pretty. :D
13/09/2010 at 19:29 Eight Rooks says:
Tee hee. That was excellent.
I really wish I could play Psychonauts again. I do own it, but I’m one of those unlucky people with just the right combination of hardware (I think it was primarily my ATI card) that means it’s glitched to unplayable. Sniff. Great video, though.
13/09/2010 at 19:43 stahlwerk says:
Strange, I played the steam version without any problems in Win7 64 bit on a Radeon 5770 and a dual core cpu, what’s in your system?
13/09/2010 at 20:44 Xercies says:
Unfortunately i have the same problem, the platforms sometimes disappear and my character and some others go grey and that. I have a radeon 4850
01/11/2010 at 21:45 PrincessWilly says:
That’s very odd, I have a 4850 too, I haven’t had any problems on multiple playthroughs. It’s definitely not (just) your graphics card.
13/09/2010 at 19:36 Hmm-Hmm. says:
Not watching until I get to see the movie. Which happens to be friday. But I hope to recall this particular post in the week-end.

Fantastic Stuff.
Right the Psychonauts DVD is come back out again, it’s been too long, and I never did find that last vault in the sewers of black velvetopia.

Well that made my day.
13/09/2010 at 20:33 Miker says:
Aye, same.
13/09/2010 at 21:02 Mad Doc MacRae says:
That was awesome even if I haven’t finished Psychonauts. (Damn meat circus is too difficult)
13/09/2010 at 22:22 Devenger says:
Yeah, a real shame that it got so nasty-platformy all of a sudden. But it’s worth looking at walkthroughs to learn every trick in the book for that level – if you need to – in order to get to the juicy ending.
14/09/2010 at 09:40 Lambchops says:
Keep trying, you’ll get there.
13/09/2010 at 21:04 westyfield says:
Dang, still haven’t played Psychonauts or seen Inception. I should probably get on that sometime.
Still, that video was great!

Thank you Tim Schafer for this day’s dose of awesome.

13/09/2010 at 21:37 thesundaybest says:
Loved the game, was lukewarm on the movie…but I’d watch an entire movie like this.
13/09/2010 at 21:45 Eight Rooks says:
Just to clarify – AMD Phenom II quad, XP 64, 2 Crossfired 512MB Radeon 4870s. It’s been a while, I can’t remember precisely what the errors were… though I seem to recall things simply freezing up, the game continuing in the background but with the screen locked in place. Definitely serious enough graphics glitches I couldn’t carry on playing, and when I Googled it the general consensus seemed to be ‘Yeah, a few PCs do this, but there’s no way it’s ever getting fixed at this point’.
Not the end of the world, I beat it back on the original XBox, the PC version only cost me a pound. Still. Frustrating. :(
13/09/2010 at 21:50 Jacques says:
I have to see, I was thinking, psychonauts, while watching the movie, the whole time, and it was great.
13/09/2010 at 22:48 Shadrach says:
You can get Psychonauts cheap on GOG, worth every last penny of it:
http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/psychonauts
Also every time I think of Psychonauts I’m reminded of BrĂ¼tal Legend, and say a small prayer that one fine day it will come to the best gaming platform.
13/09/2010 at 23:55 sfury says:
DAMN YOU MEAT CIRCUS LEVEL !!!
…I will finish you one day.
14/09/2010 at 00:59 spellman23 says:
Yeah, I spent a whole day to beat the last level.
Ending is totally worth it.
Or you can watch it on YouTube I’m sure.
Play the rest of the game though. Now. It is awesome.
14/09/2010 at 08:50 sfury says:
Oh I will replay it again, no videos of the ending can get me that closure. Psychonauts was absolutely awesome throughout and every time I get reminded of the Milkman Conspiracy or some other lunacy I start looking maniacally around for my copy of the game.
14/09/2010 at 01:03 MarkN says:
A Simple Minds reference. Now there’s a blast from the past.
14/09/2010 at 01:44 Stabby says:
God, what a fantastic game. I can’t think of any moment in a game more hilarious and innovative as stomping around the Lungfishopolis as Goggalor?
14/09/2010 at 02:16 Mad Doc MacRae says:
I thought the milkman level was the best but maybe somewhat less innovative (and somewhat more frustrating).
14/09/2010 at 05:21 SquareWheel says:
That was really well done.
14/09/2010 at 08:29 Lukasz says:
question:
can i watch the video and not be Psychonauts spoiled?
Still haven’t played as its third on my list to do (the dig first, then penumbra)
Seen Inception.
14/09/2010 at 08:57 Shadram says:
It won’t spoil anything from Psychonauts. It’s just random shots from the game set to the soundtrack of the Inception trailer. Watch it!
14/09/2010 at 09:01 sfury says:
I think it’s ok to watch – nothing spoilery, and most is short and taken out of context to match Inception so even if there is something important there you won’t recognize it till you see it.
And put Psychonauts on top of your list man! The dig and Penumbra are interesting games but this is A TIM SCHAFER GAME that trumps them all. I guarantee you – you won’t forget the Milkman Conspiracy. :)
14/09/2010 at 09:04 Lukasz says:
heh.
People of Gog voted for penumbra and the dig over Psychonauts when i asked what should i play next. The people had spoken so i have to abide by their ruling.
14/09/2010 at 09:37 EBass says:
The Milkman level was clearly the best in concept, though some of the puzzles in the level fell a bit flat. The shadowy secret agents made it all worth it though. “HELLO FELLOW ROAD CREW MEMBER! WELCOME TO THE ROAD CREW!”
14/09/2010 at 10:36 Dominic White says:
Haha, I always described Inception to friends as ‘Like Psychonauts, but as a heist movie instead of a saturday morning cartoon’. Clearly someone thought the same.
