PC gaming truth machine Blues News reports that Fall of Setarrif, the standalone expansion for ArcaniA – Gothic 4 has both a trailer (which you’ll find below) and a new site, bearing a new release date. March 25th! It’s like Christmas in March, except a slightly underwhelming Christmas where all the food is a bit cold. Anyway, March 25th- that’s barely enough time to get the game and finish it! You may be better off reading if Alec’s impressions of Gothic 4.
Wow! I quite like the gaseous black spell effect thing at the start. And that looks like some passable panther-punching.

With such a hasty release I wonder if this is going to turn out to be another Forsaken Gods–either that or this is comprised of content stripped from the base game for DLC exploitation purposes.

This game needed to be buried, not expanded upon.

This looks like a serious contender for the title of Brownest Games of All Time, along with Fallout and Quake.

Indeed, Risen is the real Gothic 4.

Gentlemen, I propose that we begin referring to these releases as ‘Standalansions’. All in favour?

Sounds good to me!

Because Arcania didnt sell that well they made the addon a standalone one ? I would only buy this if Arcania has been altered so much you could call it Gothic 5.
03/03/2011 at 18:30 Saiko Kila says:
What, Arcania is gonna get an expansion? I thought nobody was buying that thing. Buying as “paying for”. Business decisions of JoWood continue to remain a mystery to me.

An expansion was probably planned from the start. If no one bought the first one then it’s probably a good idea to release it as a standalone game as it increases the number of potential customers. Also they dropped the Gothic 4 name, probably for the same reason.
