According to this Facebook page update posted last niught, Stalker 2 will continue to be developed. It reads: “The Stalker team is extremely happy! Why? Because we are continuing work on Stalker 2 after the holidays.” This is in spite of news before Christmas saying it was all over. Phew!
We’ve contacted GSC to see if we can find out a bit more about what’s been happening.

Me, my uncle and everybody’s dogs brought some/all of the Stalker games during the Steam “celebration of making every gamer bankrupt”.
I’m so glad that I got Pripyat during the sale, not only do I now own an amazing game but it also may have helped GSC stay open.

Likely scenario: they have a few developers in the office trying to put together what they have into some sort of demo to raise investment capital to finish the game. Management is putting on the brave face to encourage investors. This has happened with other studios. If they follow the usual pattern, within six months they shut down for good. Fingers crossed that won’t happen in this case.

In a previous Blog post from one of the dev’s blogs, he stated that they’re working on little to no pay, and are building a preview build for the investor who saved the project to see if they are willing to go through with it fully. I’ll need to look for the post about it on the STALKER Southern Comfort facebook page, though.

Good news, I hope they do get paid for it though and that the investor doesn’t want to make it more mainstream in order to get his/her money back.
On the other hand, with so many mods now incorporating into COP maps from SOC, CS and older builds, I hope one day we will have a stable mod with all the maps, just in case STALKER 2 takes ages to finish.
