Bohemia Interactive’s chopper-centric sim was always going to drop in some angry war tech. That’s what they know, and that’s what we love about them. So we’re here to celebrate the addition of the Hind to Take On Helicopters with a fairly warry trailer. I don’t know about you, but to me the Hind in this DLC launch trailer looks pissed off. Probably because it’s having to do its rarr-war-rarr thing in what’s considered a civilian flight sim. He was born for war, forged in steel, headbutted into aero-dynamic shape, his blades sharpened on the screams of the ghosts of conflict. He’s here to bring more sky death to the mostly sedate world of Take On Helicopters.
What a roter.
It should start popping up on Bohemia’s shop, Steam, Desura, Gamersgate, Aerosoft, Wilco Publishing and Impulse Driven shortly.

Look, look, Operation Arrowhead’s HIND has been updated!

To be fair, Take On has made some huge changes to the flight model as well as some pretty significant changes to the way it renders objects as you move closer.
Also dat Hind model.

WTF?
Hind taking out t80′s?

The armour you see in this video is either T72 or T55. The one you see ‘sploding is a T55. Nary a T80 to shake a SACLOS at!

Also I believe it is wearing a Czek roundel. Not that that helps clear up the story at all.

Wait, they changed the setting from Seattle??
Darn.

It’s a post-Apocalypse Seattle, where the old Soviet hardware is the only thing that still works.

I keep thinking about Hind and how awesome it was to watch.

Worth noticing anyway: GOG.com has the original DID’s Hind for sale at 5.99$ now. Just wanted to say that, this sounds like Hind’s heir, and well, Hind’s been my first helicopter sim and a very fond memory.

My very first thought. I grew up playing Hind, and I really hope this turns into a proper successor.
Also, even though I’ve got the original CD running pretty well on my current desktop, I think I’m going to go grab it from GOG as well…

15/03/2012 at 19:49 Caleb367 says:
Hell yeah I remember that. I remember it being more of a corridor shooter than a flight sim, but it was fun. V-22 Osprey kicked major ass.
16/03/2012 at 13:23 VelvetFistIronGlove says:
Corridor shooter? You could fly anywhere you wanted in the map at any time. Not that there was much point, besides picking out a route clear of SA-7s.
15/03/2012 at 20:42 NYMinuteMan says:
Yes, it was so awesome. I remember turning camels into black craters with the cannon. Also, totally futuristic to feature the Osprey back in the day.

I’m beHind this all the way. If I may speak for the collective RPSers, we know good games are cyclic, and FFAR from common, so great to see this minxy Lynx skid onto our plates.

Whelp, I guess this game can’t possibly get any cooler seeing as how it now features the official Coolest Helicopter Ever (TM)

shit thatsa beautiful hind.. Lockon doesnt even come close. Tho the day when they can combine both a good ground FPS with a (at least slightly) serious flightsim mechanic. you got a winning game.
