Empyrion - Galactic Survival Hits Early Access Next Week

Just a few months ago we included Empyrion - Galactic Survival [official site] in our much revered list of PC Games Of 2015 Wot Could Conceivably Be Good. Imagine a game that basically appeals entirely to the reptilian part of Jim's brain that can only experience joy through games that take place in the vacuum abyss of space, in which you hop planets and trade space stuff and fight with your space things.
You're the only survivor of a crash onto a hostile planet called Empyrion, the result of a failed mission to trace the origins of a starship discovered within the Antarctic decades before. There's a hefty backstory that you can read about here.
The official full release date remains a bit of mystery but the gang at Eleon Game Studios have unveiled a nice little gameplay launch trailer and the date of its Steam Early Access release: August 5, y'all. As we said last time, it's not the prettiest looking game but keep in mind the trailer is using in-game pre-alpha assets.
