Freeware Garden: Maze Walkthrough

Granted, there are many more exciting things in both life and architecture than corridors, yet artist Serafín Álvarez has decided to focus on those unappreciated stalwarts of exotic environments and make them shine.

Beautiful, weird, famous, rundown, high-tech, alien and even scary corridors from sci-fi movies have been being collected over at scificorridorarchive.com since 2012 and now the most intriguing of the lot have been modeled in 3D and assembled into a stunning, quite nonsensical and modestly interactive maze; Maze Walkthrough.

Serafín Álvarez, with a little help from Guillermo Cle, Carlos Rovira, Roc Jiménez de Cisneros and Aitor Román has thus created something anyone with a even a passing interest in science fiction simply has to download and explore.

And it even rotates in the correct direction!

Maze Walkthrough starts you off in a beautifully recreated and emphatically dull corridor from Brazil and allows you to get lost in a confusing, iconic architectural monstrosity made from dozens of sci-fi corridors found in such films as Alien, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Conquest of the Planet of the Apes and Planet of the Apes, Star Wars, Metropolis, Resident Evil, Starcrash, The Day the Earth Stood Still and what I am pretty convinced is a bit from Transcendence.

And though you'll navigate the game in proper FPS style, discover hidden rooms and get lost in the traditional Zork-ian way, there's no plot, no tension, no goal, no challenge and no end -- only expertly crafted things to look at and an amazingly atmospheric, dynamic soundscape to enjoy.

I suggest you devise your own goals. You could try to identify the source of each and every corridor you see or even map the thing out.
