Kninja

I didn't ever expect to be suggesting anyone go play a game made by someone who calls themselves 'ultim8poo', but the chap's apparent love of excreta hasn't prevented him from making this excellent action-platformer.

Katakijin, the worthy fruits of one TIGSource forumite's labours, puts jumping a distant second to killing. The look might be pure cartoon, but the fighting's a serious business. There's a vast array of available combos, which suit frenzied button-bashing as much as they do calculated tactics, and you'll quickly find yourself more obsessed with chaining together hits than actually progressing - a little like The Club, but with ninjas and a sense of humour. And blood. Lots of blood. Ninja Gaiden: Black is the obvious and admitted-to touchstone, but I find Katakijin's low-key chirpiness pleases me more.

It's a very early demo, so forgive it a few foibles (exiting immediately to desktop when you press Escape, for instance) and go giggle at seven marvellous Megabytes of pixel-art blood.
