Phantom Brave Now On PC, Has A Free Demo

Another NIS classic

Tactical JRPG Phantom Brave [official site] launched on Windows this week, and has a free demo if you fancy a crack. It's the latest in a growing line of vintage console RPGs brought to PC by NIS.

So what is Phantom Brave exactly? I confess I'm no expert, but here's what I've gathered. It's a PlayStation 2 JRPG from the minds behind Disgaea, and was first released in 2004. Since then, it's been ported to both Wii and PSP before making its home on the PC. The PC version comes with all of the added content from these console remakes.

Phantom Brave tells the story of an orphan girl named Marona who can communicate with otherworldly beings called Phantoms. She uses her abilities to become a sort of freelance problem solver, although the general populace sees her as possessed. Marona can use Phantoms in battle, but since they don't have a corporeal form, she has to bind them to physical objects such as trees. Or starfish. You can't fault NIS for lack of imagination!

Phantom Brave is £13.49/17,99€/$17.99 on Steam, including a small launch discount. The demo, available from the Steam page, is pretty standard as demos go. You'll get to try out 3 maps from Chapter 1, and you'll have access to pretty much all of the unlockable content. You can even transfer your save data over to the full version of the game, if you so choose.
