The Buddy System: Resi Rev 2 Adds Local Co-op

When Resident Evil Revelations 2 [official site] Episode One released without the local co-op feature that had been promised on the Steam Store page, I was outraged. So outraged that anyone in the same room might have heard a faint sigh if they'd been paying particularly close attention. It seems likely that Capcom were listening because they've added local co-op to the campaign and raid modes of the game, currently in the form of an open beta patch. For anyone who is still unhappy, "refunds are available through Steam".

I was annoyed by the missing feature, even if my dissatisfaction often looks more like a mild bout of trapped wind than righteous fury. Local co-op is a big selling point for me and I'll often try out a game I wouldn't have been interested in otherwise if I can play it side by side with a chum. I am, in fact, planning to play the first two episodes of Revelations 2 this week and I'll report back with thoughts on that.

As for the patch, Capcom say:

"We want to get this feature in the hands of our PC players as soon as possible, so this option may not be 100 per cent polished when it is released. Feedback from those who try it out is welcomed. For anyone who isn't satisfied with this option, refunds are available through Steam."
