Unhinged Melody: Will You Ever Return?

What do the film Ghost, plasticine, brutality to trees, church organs, Will Smith and three disembodied heads floating in poo have in common?

The answer is, of course, your mum. But by an astonishing coincidence, all these elements may also be found in Hell-based indie sorta-adventure game/waking nightmare Will You Ever Return?

Jack King Spooner's tale of one surprisingly relaxed dead man trying to say a final farewell to his girlfriend is as clever as it is stupid - i.e. very.

It's a flak grenade of random pop-cultural sounds and sights sprayed with wild abandon over a claymation Hell based upon the works of Hieronymus Bosch, but based upon in the way that a swingers' party is based upon the act of procreation.

Any number of insults could very easily be directed at Will You Ever Return?, but to do so would be ignorant folly. These ten minutes of underworld-exploration are supposed to be a rough and ready aesthetic apocalypse with very little rhyme or reason, and if you don't feel addled and a little bit pissed off by its Demi Moore-based conclusion you were probably already drunk when you played it. It's surprising, often very funny and if it wasn't for the nightmarish aural assault throughout I'd call it so laid back as to be almost horizontal.

I recommend it! I don't recommend it. But I recommend it!
