League Of Legends New Champion Kindred Delayed

Pushed back to patch 5.20

It was less than a week ago that Riot got us all excited about their new League Of Legends [official site] champion Kindred - a dual-fighting unit comprised of a hunter named Wolf and a companion named Lamb - ahead of their LoL 5.19 patch. Now, it seems, a Kindred-specific bug has pushed the jungle-roaming duo's inauguration back to patch 5.20 - whenever that may be.

Speaking in a forum post, associate product manager Iniquitee said:

Hey folks,

Despite being in the 5.19 patch notes and just having their champion spotlight released, I have to share the very sad news that Kindred will not be enabled until 5.20.

We found an important, gameplay-impacting issue that we can't release, specifically related to Kindred. Rather than rush a fix out the door, we are going to take due diligence to maintain the integrity of the game and release Kindred (all fixed up) next patch, once it has had adequate coverage. Until that time I hope Worlds can sustain your hype train. We really can't wait to get this champ in your hands and see what you can do with them. They are (still) coming!

Among the responses were suggestions that Riot release footage of the bug, prompting other players to jokingly demand a bloopers reel. At first I thought this'd be quite fun, but I was then reminded of the home video-style segment at the end of Final Fantasy VIII as the credits roll. If it were to be anything like that then it wouldn't be fun at all. That was fucking horrible.

Anyway, in the absence of Kindred, the League Of Legends World Championship 2015 - which is taking place right now - will need to satisfy your LoL needs. Look out for our coverage as the tournament progresses, and check out Pip's extensive but accessible primer here.
