Walking Dead Season 3 Gets New Trailer & Character

With their hands tucked into so many narrative pies these days, it's almost easy to forget about the series that both put Telltale Games on the map and revitalised the otherwise faltering point and click genre. Having first been hinted at almost two years ago, The Walking Dead [official site] Season 3 now has its first teaser trailer and a new supporting character who goes by the name of Javier. What'll they get up to, I hear you ask. Let's have a little look, shall we?
Okay, so not all too much to go on at the moment, but it's nice to see the return of protagonist Clementine nevertheless. She'll again take centre stage this time round in a "key role", so say Telltale, but the developers are keeping further details close to their chests for now. "It's just a brief glimpse," they say. "And we're not yet ready to confirm a whole lot about exactly what it means... but there's a lot of fodder in there for speculation. This is a new story as much as it is a continuation of Seasons One and Two."
As is consistent with Telltale's choice-driven brand of pointy-clickery fare, decisions made in previous seasons will carry over as and where relevant. As for Javier, we don't know much about him beyond the fact that's he's "been through hell" up to this point before partnering with Clem. She's matured since we last seen her too, so I wonder if Javier's character will serve to explore the person she's become. Telltale sort-of hint at that here:
"In this next season, [Clementine]'s in her early teens, and has grown to be a person who is clearly capable of handling herself - someone very much on the same level as Javier, a fellow survivor who has been through hell, and has managed to remain alive as long as Clem.
"Clem has also been through a lot since we left her at the end of Season Two... and depending on the paths players may have taken with her in the past, she may or may not be exactly the same person we knew back then. You'll play as both Javier and Clementine through the course of the season, but exactly how that works is one of the exciting details we're not quite yet ready to reveal."
The Walking Dead's Season 3 is expected to release "this fall".
