Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 swings to PC on March 7

Capcom have announced a release date of March 7th for the long-overdue PC version of Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 [official site], bringing us up to date with their comics vs. computers crossover fighting game before the new MvC Infinite hits later this year. MvC3 is coming to PC five years after its initial release, packing all the DLC characters. Given that MvC Infinite will take the series back down from 3v3 to 2v2 and seemingly has fewer mutants, it’s nice that we’re finally getting this one.

Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is a fighting game which, obviously, pits Marvel Comics characters against folks from Capcom games. Expect folks from X-Men, Avengers, Defenders, Guardians of the Galaxy and so on going up against that rabble from Street Fighter, Resident Evil, Darkstalkers, Mega Man, and all that. Or fighting with them, if you want. Each player picks a line-up of three pugilists, each with their own health bar, then you get down to it. ZAM! BIF! KAPOW!

I do like how colourful and silly it all is, not even the Marvel of the modern movies – the world of their ’90s Saturday morning cartoons. The contrast between this and the super-serious, tedious tone of DC Comics biff ’em up Injustice is quite something. That DC mob have some funny ideas about the funny pages.

Anyway! Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is coming via Steam on March 7th, priced at $24.99 or whatever that is in real money. £900 by then, for all I know.

  1. Deadly Habit says:

Are the DLC characters that disappeared from the Sony store when Disney pulled the game included in this version?

  2. automatic says:

So, in the picture above, Iron Man is going to beat the shit out of his secretary with his armor painted like Captain America? That’s really fucked up.

    • welverin says:

Well, that would actually be Iron Patriot (Norman Osborn) and the ‘secretary’ is actually Morrigan (a succubus) so I don’t think it’s all that fucked up at all.

      • Jalan says:

That’s actually Tony Stark in the Iron Patriot armor.

        • welverin says:

I don’t recall TOny ever wearing that armor, but then I could just be forgetting, BUT it’s a video game skion so I prefer to believe they just don’t change the name for other reasons and it is Norman.

          • Jalan says:

You don’t need to recall it ever happening, since for the purposes of the game the Iron Patriot armor is a costume change for Tony who, when starting a round in it, will remark that he can still smell the stink of Norman’s hair gel inside the helmet.

      • automatic says:

Maybe for people who get that stuff slowly introduced to them in dropper doses it doesn’t look like that. To me, a skinny lady fighting with punches and kicks a wrestler in an armor looks pretty fucked up. How will she defend against him? By sucking the blood through his hard metal skin? Yeah, it’s fucked up.

        • welverin says:

I get where you’re coming from, but she’s a demon, she can take it.

          • automatic says:

That’s probably what ppl used to say about women they called witches in the middle ages. This girl in the picture: definetely not a fighter.

  3. Cpt.Average says:

Seriously? Six YEARS later there’s a PC port? Are they serious?

    • Optimaximal says:

I think it was off-sale for all platforms for a good deal of that time…

      • ran93r says:

They didn’t have a port on the cards last time around, now they have sorted their licensing they are throwing one out there, as well as re-releasing it on the consoles. Generating interest and keeping people sweet until MvC Infinite at the arse end of the year (or likely 2018).

    That is all.
