Ark adds giant bees and sharks that shoot lasers
Sweet, sweet honey
Sharks are cool. Lasers are cool. What happens when you mash them together? You get the latest update to ARK: Survival Evolved [official site], in which sharks can shoot lasers from a saddle on their back and giant bees roam the redwood forests.
You can craft that saddle, called the the TEK Megalodon Saddle, from Element, a new resource. You can also use it to create other sci-fi-themed items like sticky grenades and a cloning chamber if you fancy having five of your favourite dinosaur.
There's four new creatures including the Apis Lithohermaea, or the Giant Bee, whose nests are found high in the island's forests. The drones will move about in the open but to get to the Queen Apis and set up a honey farm you'll have to actually crack the nest open. Sounds like a nasty job.
There's also Daeodon Comedentis, a self-healing 'Hell Pig' that you can ride on; Liopleurodon Magicus, a sea beast; and Kentrosaurus Aethiopicus, a cousin of the Stegosaurus.
A number of other tweaks, including new hairstyles and facial hair, are detailed in the (bee pun-tastic) announcement.
