Giant Cop's E3 Trailer Depicts Long VR Arm Of The Law

Giant Cop: Justice Above All [official site] is a game that understands what it is. It's named Giant Cop because you play as a giant cop. Reminiscent of a 70s cop show, you band around a faux west-coast American town named Micro City as its lone law enforcer and, using a VR headset and motion controls, pick up criminals and literally throw them in jail. It's as tongue-in-cheek as it sounds and developers Other Ocean Interactive dropped a new trailer at E3 this week. Observe:
That one's more of a tone-setter, though. The following gameplay trailer that surfaced earlier this year gives a better look at what it's all about. Picking up drunks and streakers, grabbing helicopters in midair, and ripping trees from their roots are just a few assignments that befall Giant Cop's less than orthodox beat. Giant Cop even rips a huge tennis racket-shaped sign from atop a sports shop at one stage, before batting a large golden dome into the ocean. As he or she is wont to do.
While Giant Cop's Steam page lists both Oculus Rift and Vive support, Other Ocean recently confirmed it'll launch on Oculus first as a timed exclusive when it arrives later this year. This decision has been met with a degree of backlash, however Ryan Hale, Other Ocean's studio lead, has since explained the decision was made with the game and its community in mind. Speaking to Upload VR he said:
"We were always planning to release on one platform first. We have chosen to make that platform Oculus because we’re a small team and making a video game is a huge risk. You’re basically fronting money for a product that isn’t going to pay you anything back for years. For us, it really came down to the fact that we needed a partner. Having Oculus support us and make us a part of our marketing process significantly increases our chances of making Giant Cop a success for the community, and for the people dedicating their time to build it."
Giant Cop is due to launch later this year.
