Hacktag is two-player stealth-o-hacking co-op

Asymmetric co-op antics

A game idea which sounds good: a two-player stealth game where one plays an agent sneaking into buildings and the other is a hacker futzing with the building's systems, each supporting the other. Clandestine had a crack at that in an Alpha Protocol-y way and now Hacktag [official site] is having a go. It'll hit early access in May but hey, you can watch this trailer now even if you'd rather wait for the finished game. Look:

Playing as (half of) a mercenary duo, players will sneak into corps to steal data and all that naughty business. A field agent does the dirty work in person, sneaking around buildings, dodging guards, and messing with physical stuff. The hacker handles the cyberside, messing with security systems, jacking data, and all that. Each will rely on the other to do things for them, manipulating the meat- or cyberspace they can't reach, and at times they'll need to tackle the same task.

I dig the sound of that. It'll support local split-screen play as well as online.

Hacktag is coming to Steam Early Access on May 18th. Piece of Cake Studios, its makers, don't seem to say when they plan to finish it by. Oh, and signups are open for a beta test preceeding all that.
