Housemarque's Nex Machina confirmed for PC

Zap zap

Super Stardust developers Housemarque have teamed up with the designer of Smash TV and Robotron for their next game, the top-down twin-stick shoot 'em up Nex Machina [official site]. I've heard great things about recent Housemarque games, like Resogun, but the studio have focused on PlayStations so I'm delighted that they have now confirmed a PC release for Nex Machina. Here, look at all these explosions and particles:

It's the future, yeah, and robots are being dicks. Shoot those naughty robots! And score a great many points doing so. Housemarque say Nex Machina has over 100 levels, which of course have leaderboards to climb and top and improve upon. Points!

Housemarque are collaborating with Eugene Jarvis, a veteran designer of games including Robotron: 2084 and Smash TV. Housemarque like explosions and points, Jarvis likes explosions and points - it sounds a great combination.

Nex Machina is coming to Steam later this year. Housemarque say they're shooting for summer. And while twin-stick shooters are obviously designed with controllers in mind, Housemarque do say "we are also fine-tuning a mouse and keyboard control scheme as we speak." Oh, and an Nvidia blog post says it'll support uncapped framerates and 4k resolutions and all that jazz.

Housemarque's Super Stardust, from 1996, was one of the first games I bought myself. I am excited to see how far their explosions how came. They sure do have a lot of particles.
