Street Fighter V Reveals New Fighter But Wait, Wrestling!

Charmingly absurd

Capcom have revealed a brand new fighter throwing down in Street Fighter V [official site], the wind-whirling Rashid, but look, his unveiling has mostly reminded me that I never told you about a ridiculous and amazing older character confirmed to return in the new punch 'em up. Yes yes I know you may want to learn about Rashid and I'll get to the Middle Eastern scrapper soon but first: check out the absurdity of wrestler Rainbow Mika, who pumps the crowd and calls her tag-team partner to pummel peeps:

Capcom confirmed the return of the Street Fighter Alpha 3 character back in August, but I was so blown away I entirely forgot I wanted to tell you all about her. Also, check out the description of her move Mic Performance:

"R. Mika pulls out her trusty microphone and gives a heart-pumping monologue to the crowd. The longer the buttons are held down, the more powerful her normal and special throws become! During her monologue state, she is able to absorb one hit from the opponent and can also cancel the speech at any time by letting go of the buttons, causing her to fling the mic at the opponent."

How great is that? I really like thematic moves which are more than just animations.

Right, okay, back to Rashid. He's an all-new character coming to the series in V, and was fittingly revealed at an event in Dubai last week. Capcom say, "Players can look forward to parkour inspired, fast-paced attacks, which will leave opponents scratching their heads and wondering what's coming next!" Have a look:

Street Fighter V is due in 2016. While SF games have historically got a bit carried away with revisions, Capcom say that this'll be the only SFV. The new characters and gameplay changes that revisions usually bring will come to the base game; players will be able to unlock new content with either a currency earned by playing or by spending real cash money.
