Titanfall 2’s War Games update adds new maps

Titanfall 2’s [official site] pilots need to be light on their feet, what with all the parkour, so it makes sense that they wouldn’t want to lug around lots of heavy weapons. But surely in the distant future humanity will discover a way to solve this problem? And it looks like they have, as the War Games update, along with introducing new maps and bunch of improvements, finally allows pilots to carry three weapons at once. The future truly is an incredible place.

All these better-armed pilots can muck around with their extra guns in the new ‘War Games’ map, set in a VR training sim.

Pilots on the Frontier frequently use simulator pods to train, using life-like recreations of historical battles as combat scenarios. War Games highlights the civilian shops, tall buildings for window-to-window fighting, and city streets for Titan combat from the Battle of Angel City, and the large, open tank garage facilities for hand-to-hand Pilot combat from the Battle of Airbase Sierra. The outskirts of the map feature a clean, VR style perfect for Titan duels, while Pilots are often found running along the bright, interconnected wallrunning routes.

A second map has been put together for the Live Fire mode, too. ‘Traffic’ is a test site where pilots duke it out across two busy thoroughfares filled with dense cover.

Below you’ll find the list of new features, and you can take a gander at the full patch notes here.

If they keep adding modes there’s going to be more game modes than actual players.

I’ve been considering buying Titanfall 2 lately and logged in to ask if anyone was still playing. I gather it’s pretty quiet?

Not as quiet as many (non-players, mostly) would make it seem. These days it shows something around 1.5K to 4K players online for me when I log in. Usually it takes only a few seconds to get a match in Attrition (basically team death match, the most popular mode) at any given time, but some of the less popular modes can be admittedly tough to find a match in a reasonable time.

The additions Respawn have made to the game since launch are generally fantastic, it is a much larger and content rich experience now compared to the launch version. I really like that they’ve made Titan Brawl (Titan-only team death match with quick respawning) a permanent mode now, it is a ridiculously fun and currently well populated mode.

I normally play 30-60 mins a day in the UK and can get 2-3 games in with sub 1-minute wait times.

If it’s true the next patch will include Horde-mode I imagine the popularity will only go up too.

I play UK time and have never wanted for a game except in some of the less popular modes and even then only at off hours. The only issue is the matchmaking, which has always been off in terms of finding players at similar skill levels. Even if you can’t find a match or bounce of the multiplayer it’s worth it for the single player imho
