Kingface - Grand Ages: Medieval Announced

"The E3 of PC!" I sorely hope no one calls Gamescom. But the German show going on this week definitely has more of a PC slant, what with being in Germany and all. You're unlikely to see serious kings with serious brows and serious beards at E3 unless they're warrior-kings cleaving skulls. No, the serious kings of Gamescom plot and strategise and command others to do the messy stuff.

All of which is to say that real-time strategy sequel Grand Ages: Medieval has been announced.

While Grand Ages: Rome and it unseriesed precursor Imperium Romanum were developed by Haemimont Games, the Tropico folks aren't working on this one. This time it's on publisher Kalypso's Gaming Minds Studios, the lot behind Patrician IV, Port Royale 3, and Rise of Venice.

"It is the year 1050 AD. At the beginning of the High Middle Ages development in Europe has seen an unprecedented level of progress and a rapidly growing population spreads across the length and breadth of the continent. New frontiers are explored, settlements founded and vast trading routes established. As the head of one of these small settlements, it falls upon you to lead your people towards greatness. Explore a vast world, gather resources, encounter other societies and use your trading expertise to expand and make your fortune. Found new cities, progress your nation with inventive technology and protect your trade routes against barbarian attacks until you are powerful enough to begin your conquest over Europe and forge a bold new empire."
