OTK Warrior (Standard) deck list and guide - Hearthstone - September 2016

How to dominate the ladder using the devastating Worgen Warrior deck in Season 30.

OTK Warrior is a combo-heavy deck that isn't exactly a new kid on the Hearthstone block, but is instead one that's only really become popular in the final few weeks of the Old Gods metagame. Its playstyle is pretty simple on paper: you seek to control the board as best you can, while drawing through your deck aggressively in order to bring a specific collection of cards into your hand.

These cards are then used to turn Raging Worgen into a devastating source of damage, one that's often capable of ending the opponent in a single turn. Throw Faceless Manipulator into the mix and its easy to see how this deck can quickly get out of hand. Overpowered though all of this might seem though, it's not a trivial deck to pilot, and so we've put together a quick guide to the OTK Worgen Warrior that should help get you off to the best possible start.

In it, you'll find the deck that's currently considered to be the best version of the archetype, along with some important stategy advice about how to develop your board - and your hand - in order to build a bigger, better beast. As well as general combos for the deck, we've also got a breakdown of the core synergies that make your Worgen so deadly, along with a guide to the Mulligan process too. If you have any questions about playing this deck, let us know in the comments and we'll do what we can to help!

Editor's note - September update: OTK Worgen Warrior is another deck for the Hero that's made it into the Karazhan metagame without a single change being made to it. Nice, of course, if you've not been able to buy the new Adventure but want to remain competitive on the ladder!

BREAKING! - Blizzard's about to swing the nerfbat pretty hard at seven popular cards. We've got the details of all the balance changes coming in patch 6.1.3

OTK Warrior deck list and strategy (Standard) - September 2016

While the principle behind playing OTK Worgen Warrior is relatively easy to understand, it's a lot tougher to put into practise to any high degree of consistency. Still, this is the deck list we think you'll find most luck with in August.

More great Warrior guides:

The trickiest element of playing OTK Warrior is not to panic, and instead focus on your bigger picture rather than reacting with fear to every play your opponent makes. In the early game, that means controlling the board with Fiery War Axe if you have it, but also making use of early minions like Acolyte of Pain and Loot Hoarder. Blood to Ichor, Slam and Ravaging Ghoul can also be used to provide some kind of presence on the board.

In the mid-game you can use your Wild Pyromancers to both deal with the opponent's mininions and also tap your Acolyte of Pain. Consider also the benefit of playing this card with Commanding Shout on a busy board, then dropping a whopping Battle Rage to add some serious heft to your hand. The idea behind this is to bring together all the pieces of your Worgen combo puzzle, and ideally cheapen them with Emperor Thaurissan once they're in your hand.

How exactly do you build that end-game monster though? Well, assuming no Mana discounts from the Emperor, you can make the following killer plays. Don't forget about the duplication effect of Faceless Manipulator as well if you have Mana to spare.

Including the cost of putting Raging Worgen on the board:

- 16 damage for 6 Mana (Inner Rage | Charge)

- 20 damage for 8 Mana (Inner Rage | Cruel Taskmaster | Charge)

- 22 damage for 8 Mana (Inner Rage | Rampage | Charge)

- 26 damage for 10 Mana (Inner Rage | Cruel Taskmaster | Rampage | Charge)

- 28 damage for 10 Mana (Inner Rage | Rampage | Rampage | Charge)

- 30 damage for 10 Mana (Inner Rage | Rampage | Inner Rage | Cruel Taskmaster | Charge)

As you can imagine, it's vital that you avoid wasting these crucial combo pieces on anything other than empowering your Worgen. You have other means to deal with the board, and you'll have to adjust to the opponent in front of you in order to handle them most efficiently.
