Path of Exile: Fall of Oriath expansion going godslaying

A huuuge expansion

Free-to-play action-RPG Path of Exile [official site] has announced a monster expansion, adding a whole new Act and five remixed Acts too. The Fall of Oriath will conclude Path of Exile's campaign with new areas, items, and enemies, and a whole lot of godslaying - letting players pick up powers as they do in deities. It's due later this year so, for now, peep this announcement trailer:

Act Five: The Fall of Oriath will send the players to Oriath, the place they were exiled from in the first place, to tussle with the theocracy.

After that, in what Grinding Gear Games call 'Part Two', they'll return to the land of Wraeclast to explore areas from the previous Acts - which have now been changed by the player's previous actions. Cheery RPS fanzine PC Gamer had a play and gab about changes like swampland once corrupted by a boss turning to forest, taking new paths through regions, or gaining access to previously-locked areas.

So that's one new act, then five different acts. Expect new enemies, new items, and new bosses - gods to slay.

The Fall of Oriath will also introduce a 'Pantheon' system, offering defensive buffs unlocked by killing gods. The Pantheon tapestry tracked that is rad. Oh, and expect rebalancing and tweaking and all that too. Grinding Gear say they'll reveal more soon.
