Two Worlds Demo

The demo of Two Worlds, a fantasy adventure with pretensions towards being the next Oblivion, can be downloaded from here.

This is my hero. That's the default hat. He started the game with it.

But it's not just about hats. There's moonwalking too.

Two Worlds was not generally not that well received by internet game judges, but I'm throughly enjoying this demo in a 'B-Game' kind of way. There's something solid about the hack 'n slash, and the cheesy dialogue seems to take the edge off any pretension. Although that perception could be a consequence of my profound lack of sleep...

Anyway, the demo allows you to play a large chunk of the start of the game, although it seems to skip both intro-sequence exposition and tutorial, effectively dumping you in the world and leaving you to trawl through the options menus to figure out what is possible.

Needless to say, I smirked at the ridiculous rock-opera theme tune, killed some goblins, and then discovered there's some kind of moonwalk function. I tried to make a video of it in Fraps, but was missing an unspecified codec. Thanks, computer. You'll just have to imagine it, or try it for yourself. The moonwalk key is 'Q'.

Then I tried to talk to a man, but couldn't figure it out and ended up hitting him with my sword, thereby causing him to chuckle. Annoyed, I walked down a hill to kill more goblins. As I retreated (the goblins were too tough) a nearby gentleman in a cowl brutalized them with fireballs. I decided to try and thank him, but instead triggered some exposition. Thus:

Goat's cave? Sure, why would a hot young bounty hunter hang out anywhere else? Darth Vader: Renaissance Remix kidnapped my sister, you see. That means I have motivation to go to the goat's cave whether I genuinely want to or not.

This is my sister.

Two Worlds is awesome.
