Grrg! Arrrg! Unturned leaves early access

After three years

Free-to-play DayZ-o-Minecraft 'em up Unturned [official site] has launched in full, after three years in early access. The biggest part of the update taking it to full release is a new sandbox map set in Germany. Chris Livingstone had a crack at Unturned after it rocketed into Steam's top 10 most-played games within a week, a position it has impressively clung close to ever since (it's twelfth right now, with around 32,000 players in-game). Perhaps we should feel guilty about how many early access survival games he played for us. But this, this one is meant to be pretty good as they go.

Unturned is, like, one of those sorts of games? You're in a sandbox world, crafting and fighting and eating and building and driving and flying as zombies (and maybe others players) try to off you. It does that stuff. It does also have a competitive PvP arena mode, and of course servers which focus on roleplaying and co-op and whatnot, and offline support.

In 2015 we had a chat with the creator of Unturned, who was sixteen years old when he started working on it. Sixteen!

If you fancy a crack, Unturned is free-to-play on Steam.

Here, this trailer gives a nice little 'day in the life' story:
