Crikey, it's all gotten rather gruesome on the Epic Games store this week. Co-op slaughter-fest Killing Floor 2 makes its debut on the storefront today, heading up this week's free lineup alongside carceral break-out The Escapists 2 and lonely spacefarer Lifeless Planet. You know the drill - these three are free to grab 'til next Thursday, at which point they'll be replaced by fantasy dungeon-crawler…

Run, jump, grab a thousand gubbins, escape from prison guards and hear the lamentations of their women - sounds like a fun weekend. Humble have just unveiled their next three 'early unlock' games for their Humble Monthly subscription service, and it's an impressive little trio. $12 gets you Funcom's survival sandbox Conan Exiles, Gears for Breakfast's Mario-esque platformer A Hat In Time and Mouldy Toof's jailbreak…
Feature: Steam Trains at number one again
The Steam Charts aren't, as you may have been led to expect, large sprawling maps depicting the locations of all the world's known steam. They were, but due to government pressure we've altered them to list the top ten selling games on Steam, in reverse order, like a rocket taking off.
Feature: Cheap at twice the price
Other sites will bombard you with "facts" and "details" about the top-selling games on Steam, but not us. We won't patronise you with such things. We know you're better than that, taller, more attractive than the readers of those sites. We know you know we know you better, and as such reach for higher, smarter, more eloquent brilliance.
In a week overrun with announcements of games still to come (thanks, Gamescom!), here's a new one we can play now. Prison escape 'em up The Escapists 2 [official site] launched this week, inviting us to escape from a variety of prisons any way we can. It's a sandbox-o-puzzle-a-stealth-y daily life RPG sort of doodad where the objective is clear -- escape -- but how…
Feature: Surely shanked, no redemption
I didn't spend long with the first The Escapists - time off for good behaviour, perhaps - but nonetheless, playing early code for its upcoming sequel was like slipping into an old jumpsuit. Nothing like as serious as Shawshank but not as catastrophically stupid as Prison Break, this was and is, essentially, a mash-up of simulation, roleplaying and crafting in which you had to devise…

The Escapists 2 [official site], the sequel to prison escape RPG The Escapists, will bust out of its shackles on 22nd August, publishers Team 17 have announced. The first was a silly, fun little game in which you tried to cut your holiday at Her Majesty's pleasure short by digging tunnels, cutting wire fences – you know, the usual stuff you'd think of and never get away…
Feature: It's gonna be a good year
As Old Father Time grabs his sickle and prepares to take ailing 2016 around the back of the barn for a big sleep, we're looking to the future. The mewling pup that goes by the name 2017 will come into the world soon and we must prepare ourselves for its arrival. Here at RPS, our preparations come in the form of this enormous preview feature,…
Prisons Are 'Like Sandbox RPGs', declares The Daily Rag. They rattle off a list of exciting and fun activities inmates get up including joining a band, learning to paint, crafting new items, and something called 'multiplayer' - which sounds highly immoral. You big sillies: you've been watching the announcement of prison break RPG sequel The Escapists 2. Publishers Team17 announced the follow-up to The Escapists, which…
