I played that ancient game everyone always talks about

It's 2 years older than me, for christ's sake

I think I'm supposed to turn with the arrow keys, but strafe with WASD. The game begins to stutter and break if I touch the mouse, as if the 90’s themselves are punishing my modern sensibilities. It feels like I’m playing a strange experiment, a weird offshoot in FPS design. It strikes me that original DOOM is both exactly that and exactly the opposite.
