Inside Baseball: A week off to carry on playing games

"So you just get to play games all day?" Is the question I'm most frequently met with when I tell someone what I do for a living. My response is usually a muddle of "Well, I run a business, have finances to worry about, employees who rely on the business, tech misery, infrastructure issues every day, and of course a huge amount of my time is taken up with writing... But yeah, I've got an amazing job!" I sort of concede to it, even after listing a sample of the many, many things that mean I don't get to play games all day. And of course, with all of that, yes goodness me, what an amazing job. But in future I'm going to reply, "Actually, when I want to play games all day, I take a week off."
