The Walking Dead: Michonne [official site] Episode 2, called "Give No Shelter," is coming out on March 29th. To announce the release, Telltale have done something slightly different than the usual trailer, something quite cool and also quite creepy. They've published one of those recaps that remind you of the choices you made in past episodes, basing it on what the majority of players decided to do.
It's a bit like "Twitch plays", except these are the decisions of our collective hivemind.
You've chosen to keep reading past the break.
The Hivemind will remember this.
The Walking Dead: Michonne is a miniseries based on the original comics by Robert Kirkman, and not on the previous Walking Dead games by Telltale. The first episode came out less than a month ago, and the series is schedule to wrap up in April with the third and last episode. Here are 6 minutes from the game, if you want a primer.
Oh, and if you keep reading there will be some spoilers.
As for the plot of the second episode, here's what Telltale have to say about it:
In Episode 2, 'Give No Shelter,' a daring escape from the floating colony of Monroe sees Michonne, Pete, and Sam running for their lives. An all too brief reprieve is soon shattered; the leaders of Monroe don't forgive and don't forget. With memories of her daughters bleeding ever further into Michonne's blurred reality, her world is becoming increasingly fractured... just at the point when she'll need all of her skills to survive.
It's always interesting to see what choices players make in games like these, and try to find a reason why. If there is a clearly good choice, players will often choose that over the alternative, but when the options are all nice and grey is where the fun comes in.
Of course the majority of people would not choose to kill themselves, and actually I thought the gap was going to be higher than it is. I wonder if some players chose to pull the trigger just to see if the game would actually let you end your life so soon, because 82% of people actually decided to not let Sam kill Zach, even though Zach just killed...someone? Look, I haven't played the game myself, so I don't have any context for these, but it's fun to muse about them all the same. And that 69% of players deciding to steal the duffel is very surprising. Why did you choose what you chose, hivemind?
The Walking Dead: Michonne is available now. The entire miniseries will net you $14.99/£10.99
