Asylum Jam 2015 Is Happening Right Now

48 hour horror jam

A quick note to let any budding horror game developers and/or fans know that the 2015 Asylum Jam is now live. The first Asylum Jam was back in 2013 and it's become an annual fixture.

"Asylum Jam is a 48 hour long game jam where game developers are challenged to make a horror game and explore the genre without negative mental health or medical stereotypes."

You can play last year's selection of games right now, or submit your own creation. Or maybe you're content to watch the activity feed and wait for new games to play.

The slick but unimaginative Outlast was the catalyst for an article I wrote about mental illness in horror way back when. I like to fight the good fight for my favourite genre.

Asylum Jam creator Lucy Morris is of similar mind. The jam is a celebration of the genre and its diversity as well as a way to raise awareness about mental health stigma and stereotypes.

If you want to enter, here's how:

"This year, Asylum Jam will be taking place from November 6th to 9th for whatever 48 hour period that is most convenient for you in your timezone. The ticker here is set to 12AM GMT+13.

"You do not need to sign up to participate, but you must be a GameJolt member and submit your game with the jam's tag to have it submitted to the jam. You must also be a GameJolt member to vote, so make sure you join up!"

Here's hoping for some post-Witchmas treats.
