GTA V 'Map Editor' Mod Lets You Spawn Props

Prop-er cool

The Custom Content Creator in GTA Online is a fine tool for tinkering with Los Santos with friends, but there isn't much around that lets you entertain your creative side on your lonesome in Grand Theft Auto V [official site]. If, like me, you spend a lot of time messing about in single-player, this poses a problem. Well, grumble no more my fellow loners, this nifty GTA V Map Editor mod will let us turn the sprawling city into our personal playgrounds to our lonely hearts' content.

Okay, so technically it's not a map editor, more a prop-spawning tool, but it's neat nevertheless. 'Map Editor' is "reminiscent of MTA:SA [Multi Theft Auto: San Andreas] Editor days," says the mod's description. "You have a free cam to navigate around, and you can spawn objects (with preview), move them around with your mouse or keys. Then you can save or load your map in various formats, currently supported are XML and Simple Trainer format."

Here's a video of it in action complete with skating ramps, a cool look at the free cam in motion, and humpback whales strewn across multiple lanes of the freeway. Because, well, why not?

I'd likely spent hours happily faffing about with this mod, but I'm eager to see how the creatives among us take to it, not least the dedicated stunting community - particularly when the organic stunts start to slow. I mean, I appreciate Los Santos is a massive playground of stairwells and skyscrapers and valleys and hills, but how many locations can people really hit without it getting overly repetitive? Top stunters like Ash Sky Queen continue to wow us with their talent for scoping out locations like in this and this, but asset-spawning tools like Map Editor can only serve to make these feats even more impressive.
