Guns of Icarus Alliance takes to the skies with co-op

Steampunk chums

Avast, ye unsightly cads! Cast ye grog-smashed memory back to The Year of Emperor Cameron 2012, when Guns of Icarus Online took to the clouds with steampunk multiplayer airship combat. Jump on a few to 2013, when developers Muse Games crowdfunded an expansion adding singleplayer and co-op, then zip up the present day, when that has arrived in standalone form (with multiplayer thrown in) as Guns of Icarus Alliance [official site]. The thing with Guns of Icarus, yeah, is that you and your pals can crew the same airship.

Guns of Icarus Alliance plops players into a world of four warring factions. Customising and equipping your airship, you join in and throw your support behind a faction by raiding, capturing, and destroying objectives as needed. On your tod, or with your chums in co-op. Developers Muse Games say:

"Feel the pressure of sneaking past ships in Infiltration mode or the exhilaration of surviving a horde wave in Search & Destroy. Across 36,000 square meters of terrain, you and your crew will be pushed to your limit as you are forced to assault bases, chase convoys, and sometimes just plain endure. Each time you master a level of play the Icarus AI Director ramps up the tension giving you a new challenge."

Oh, and Guns of Icarus Online's competitive multiplayer is thrown in too.

Guns of Icarus Alliance is out for Windows, Mac, and Linux on Steam at £13.49/17,99€/$17.99, which includes a small launch discount.
