If you arranged for a pre-order of Red Dead Redemption 2 - or picked up one of the special editions - then you'll likely want to know how you go about redeeming some of the bonus items that you received as part of the pre-launch promotion.
In this quick guide, we're outlining how to redeem or unlock every single pre-order and special edition item in clear, brief terms, so you can get stuck straight into using them. Don't worry if you've installed the game or made a save. You can redeem your codes at any point and then pick the goodies up in-game.
How to unlock Ardennes War Horse
- Redeem your pre-order code in your PlayStation or Xbox account
- Install Red Dead Redemption 2
- Visit a stable (you'll encounter your first one in Chapter 2)
- Talk to the stable owner to purchase a horse, and the Ardennes War Horse will be available for free
How to unlock the Nuevao Paraiso Gunslinger Outfit
- Redeem your pre-order code in your PlayStation or Xbox account
- Install Red Dead Redemption 2
- Check your wardrobe at the end of your bed in camp once you reach Chapter 2
- Equip the outfit and have a good rummage around your inventory too as you get quite a bit of stuff along with it.
How to unlock the Eagle Talon Talisman
- Follow the instructions in the section above
- Search your Wardrobe once again for an item called the Eagle Talon Talisman
- Equip it and you'll gain an extra five seconds of Eagle Eye time throughout your gameplay
How to unlock the Volcanic Pistol and Varmit Rifle
- Once you've hit Chapter 2, visit any Gunsmith in the game
- Look through the inventory until you see the Volcanic Pistol and Varmint Rifle
- Grab them for free!
