Stealthy crimescene cleanup game Serial Cleaner will leave early access next week and, it turns out, have cheeky bonus levels. While the game stars a cleaner (in the criminal sense) sneaking around murder scenes to remove bodies, blood, and other evidence, it'll go a little fancier with bonus levels inspired by unlikely movies. Alien, Star Wars, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and Suspiria are among the silverscreen scenes we'll get to clean. Look, here's the Alien level:
Does that mean we'll actually be working for Alien's moonman, helping it cover its tracks and slip away into the stars? If you struggle with the logic of it, repeat to yourself "It's just a game, I should really just relax."
The ten movies getting gamified for bonus levels are Enter the Dragon, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Taxi Driver, Two Mules for Sister Sarah, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Rocky Horror Picture Show, A Clockwork Orange, Star Wars: The Motion Picture, Suspiria, and Alien.
Some of the regular levels are based on movies too. Unpleasantly, some others are based on real murder scenes.
To refresh your memory, Serial Cleaner is a stealth cleaning game starring a naughty crimescene cleaner trying to tidy up without being spotted by the cops. It's fairly arcade-y in both its stealth and cleaning, so don't expect Thief mixed with Viscera Cleanup Detail, but what I've seen looks quite fun. I avoid singleplayer games during early access, though, so I've not touched it myself.
Serial Cleaner will launch for Windows, Mac, and Linux on July 14th, priced at £11.99/14,99€/$14.99. It has been on Steam Early Access since September 2016. Serial Cleaner popped up in the RPS Cave of Wonders at Rezzed too.
